  • Chicago's Smart Bar will expand its roster of local artists and guests for 2015. The venue currently operates a number of weekly parties, among them Queen with Derrick Carter and Michael Serafini, and Oktave, Jeff Derringer's techno night. Justin Long will remain in his stead as senior resident, heading up the Hugo Ball troupe, while Smart Bar creative director (AKA The Black Madonna) will keep her quarterly We Still Believe residency. Rahaan is back again as well, and Innerspace Halflife will continue with their acid-oriented Dexterity Sessions. In addition, Sassmouth, Garrett David and Philip Stone will return while newcomer Chrissy (who has dropped the Murderbot surname) is welcomed to the fold. The basement club will welcome some esteemed out-of-towner artists in residence for 2015. Roving house crew Honey Soundsystem will come to Chicago on a regular basis. Honey Dijon, recently the subject of a New York Times profile, will be an honorary Queen, and Oktave will add heavy-duty guests DVS1 and Regis to its roster. The Savages night, which kicks off on Halloween with Mr. Long and Harry & JPEG, will enjoy visits from Jeffrey Sfire and John Roberts. Stamper's dedication to cultivating emerging talent remains strong with the return of the Junior Residents program. Argot, Tasteful Nudes and Little White Earbuds boss Steve Mizek will join up, as will Harry Cross, Jacob Meehan and Jarvi & Observer. Check out Stamper's note on the Smart Bar website for more information. Though its residencies act as the foundation of the club's booking, Smart Bar remains a popular venue for out-of-town talent. Actress played live at the venue on October 9th and RA hosted a showcase with Theo Parrish and Specter on Friday, October 3rd.
