- Stephen Samuel Gordon, known for his collaborations with Kode9, passed away today after a long fight with cancer.
Stephen Samuel Gordon, AKA The Spaceape, has passed away.
Gordon was a singer and poet known to the dance music world through his long-term partnership with Hyperdub boss Kode9—the two have been working together since the label's very first release, "Sine Of The Dub," in 2004 (back when he went by the name Daddi Gee). They recorded two albums together—Memories Of The Future and Black Sun—and just this autumn announced a new EP, The Killing Season. Gordon also released music solo, and has collaborated with a number of other artists, including Burial and Martyn. He is survived by his wife and six year-old daughter.
