  • Running Back's 50th catalog number belongs to a new Redshape EP set for release next month. Discogs obsessives may note that Gerd Janson's label reached release number 50 some time ago—albums are counted separately from EPs, and they've often tweaked the numbering for special releases. (Son Of Sam's Nature Makes A Mistake, taken from a cassette released in 1984, skipped ahead to catalog number RB084; a recent EP from Mutsumi, a co-release with Maurice Fulton's BubbleTease Communications, was stamped with RBBT-1.) Reaching RB050 is a milestone nevertheless, and as a regular on the label, the perennially masked producer is an apt choice for the occasion. The record is called Leaves, and the title cut features in four versions. Running Back says it finds Redshape "back on the monolithic techno tip" with "the sort of warehouse rave signal that exceeds the sole purpose of a tool." Tracklist A1 Leaves (Original) A2 Leaves (Stripped 2 Clip) B1 Leaves (Rotated Mix) B2 Leaves (Stripped 2 Clip & 303) Running Back will release Leaves on October 20th, 2014.
