  • Surface Noise will debut with sets from Prostitutes and Black Hat on October 10th. Since its inception in 2013, the Surface Tension party has mined emerging names in outré dance music, having presented Container, Young Male, Shifted and more during their short run. The new Surface Noise events will attempt to take things even further afield, focusing on acts often considered too experimental for regular club settings. The October gig will be headlined by Prostitutes, the nom de plume of Clevelander James Donadio, whose tense, noisy recordings have been issued by Spectrum Spools and Mira. Joining him will be Seattle's Black Hat, an associate of Debacle Records. That Northwest crew's Motor events are simpatico with Surface Tension's bookings—they'll host Hieroglyphic Being this weekend. The Surface Tension residents will spin after live performances from the traveling talent.
