  • An English translation of Felix Denk and Sven von Thülen's 2012 book Der Klang Der Familie is coming soon. The book chronicles Berlin during the period around the fall of the Berlin Wall, when clubs and art spaces proliferated in abandoned buildings with uncertain ownership. It was in these locales—UFO, E-Werk and Tresor are some of the most famous—that Berlin's techno scene took hold and, as the authors present it, lent the divided city something to unite around. This English translation of Der Klang Der Familie (The Sound Of Family) follows a 2013 French translation and a German-French TV documentary, In This Place Called Techno, that was based on the book. Its release this November coincides with the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Der Klang Der Familie will be released on November 9th, 2014.
