- Recorded over the course of two years and four continents, the Australian artist's next album will land on Editions Mego in October.
Oren Ambarchi will release a new album on October 27th.
Ambarchi is a versatile Australian artist known for a wide variety of works, often conceptual, for labels like Touch, Kranky and Editions Mego, which is behind Quixotism. One of Ambarchi's most considerable undertakings, this one was recorded slowly from 2012 through 2014 in several different locations, and with several different collaborators, and then worked into one five-part piece.
One of the more rhythm-oriented Ambarchi releases, Quixotism is based around a percussive backbone from Thomas Brinkmann, with Jim O'Rourke, Japanese tabla player U-zhaan and even the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra among some of the other guests on the record. The LP heavily features Ambarchi's guitar playing and drumming, and features plenty of spatial shifts owing to the record's variety of recording places, from a large concert hall all the way down to close contact mic work courtesy of Crys Cole.
