  • BAM has announced details of Next Wave Fest 2014, which will host performances from Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass and more between September 9th and December 20th. Now in its 32nd year, Next Wave will feature both early electronic music pioneers and current innovators as part of a program that incorporates music, film, theatre, performance art and dance. Highlights include a joint performance from the forefathers of minimalist music: Steve Reich and Philip Glass, who will reunite on stage for the first time in 30 years, backed by their respective ensembles. They will perform for three nights from September 9th to 11th. Laurie Anderson and the Kronos Quartet will perform their collaborative effort, Landfall, which conjoins poetry, storytelling and new media art with electronic music and strings to convey Anderson's experience of Hurricane Sandy. Pianist and composer Vijay Iyer will play a program of three works, including a live soundtrack for the screening of Radhe Radhe: Rites Of Holi, which explores the Hindu festival of colors, and a new suite, Mutant I-X, for piano, electronics and string quartet. Tickets are available for individual events and via subscription for multiple shows.
