  • Factory Settings, a new monthly party for experimental dance floor music, will launch on Saturday, August 30th, at TBA Brooklyn. Their inaugural event will host local leftfield techno artists Patricia and Hound Scales, alongside resident DJs Dunes and Sinclair. "The focus will be on booking choice local talents, which are in heavy supply right now," says Dunes, AKA Jordan Welner, who also heads up the Bushwick-based Broke City collective. "It's no big secret that Brooklyn has an affluence of talent when it comes to techno, and we want to take advantage of it in a more direct way by doing a conceptual event geared toward experimental techno and the like." The monthly club night will help anchor the borough’s DIY electronics movement, one that continues to flourish in smaller, more offbeat venues. "If you walk into Bushwick venues like Bossa Nova Civic Club, Body Actualized Center or Secret Project Robot, you'll feel the special type of energy that small music communities are capable of," Welner says. Over the next few months, Factory Settings will host Huerco S., Max Mcferren, Anthony Naples, Divvorce, Mike Servito, Beau Wanzer, Shaun O'Sullivan and more at its Williamsburg location. Tickets for the event are available on RA.
