  • François K's Deep Space residency will host Ron Trent at Cielo in Manhattan on August 18th. Trent began his DJ career in Chicago in the mid-'80s, reaching widespread acclaim in 1990 with his first single, "Altered States," released while he was still in high school. The record was championed by influential figures like Dave Morales and the late Frankie Knuckles. He founded the seminal house label Prescription in 1993 alongside Chez Damier, and has been steadily releasing new music on the Prescription sub-label, Future Vision, since it launched in 2005. Trent spent the late '90s living in New York, spinning jazz and soul-inflected sets at clubbing institutions like Shelter and Body & Soul, and he'll return to the Big Apple this month to play alongside longtime friend and collaborator François K. Below you can hear a clip of his forthcoming tribute to Knuckles, 7th Heaven: Tribute To The Energy Of Frankie Knuckles, out on Chiwax in September 2014. You can also listen to Trent's recent RA Exchange here.
