  • LA-based composer Jon Hassell will make a rare appearance this Monday at Los Globos, where he'll perform a set containing both live and DJ elements with support from Inc. and SFV Acid. Hassell, 77, developed his unique Fourth World sound after dalliances with New York minimalist composers Terry Riley and Philip Glass and extensive studies with Pandit Pran Nath. He's collaborated with Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel, and his music, a clear influence on many modern electronic artists, is currently the subject of a reissue campaign by London label All Saints. His 1990 album City: Works Of Fiction was recently issued as a remastered set, accompanied by a live recording and remixes from No UFO's, patten, Bass Clef and others. For Monday's show, his first LA appearance in four years, he'll be joined by John Von Seggern and Rick Cox. 4AD R & B act Inc. will also play live in a new 4-piece live formation. They've scheduled two California shows leading up to the LA date. Starbucks-obsessed dance producer SFV Acid will round out the line-up.
