  • Two people have died after a Mad Decent Block Party in Maryland last weekend. Friday's Merriweather Post Pavilion show was the third leg of an extensive tour across the US and Canada. As FACT report, an unnamed 17-year-old male from Woodbridge, Virginia, is the second person to be confirmed dead, following 20-year-old Tyler Fox Viscardi. A further 20 people have also been hospitalised. Toxicology results are still pending. In the aftermath, Mad Decent issued a statement via their website on Saturday morning: "We were shocked and saddened when we heard the news from yesterday’s event at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this.” Later that day, label chief Diplo personally expressed his condolences via Twitter. Concert promoter Seth Hurwitz also released a statement: "Our hearts go out to the family as they face the unimaginable," he said. "As a parent, it makes me horribly sad beyond words to think of a tragedy like this. This particular type of incident is not the problem of those who should have known better…it’s the problem of those too young to believe it could happen to them. Sadly we find ourselves in the classic position of trying to tell kids not to do something they think is fun." Saturday's Block Party at Scope Plaza in Norfolk, Virginia, went ahead as planned.
