- The Canadian label's new series is meant to explore the "future primitive."
Turbo Recordings will release the first instalment of a new series called New Jack Tribal on September 8th.
The title is a reference to New Jack Techno, the Montreal imprint's landmark 2012 compilation which would signal a shift into heavier techno territory. This new one comes branded with the "future primitive" tag, meant to combine the "psychedelic world-beat" sound of Turbo's new subsidiary Multi Culti with the aesthetics of the main label—which means plenty of syncopated percussion. The first volume is a four-track EP featuring ex-Footprintz man Clarian, Berlin's Hreno, longtime label A&R Thomas Von Party and Turbo staple (and hardware wizard) Mike Mind.
Tracklist
01. Clarian - Inuit
02. Hreno - Tree Trunks
03. Von Party - Pygmy Funk
