  • Jay Haze has relaunched—and combined—his labels Contexterrior and Tuning Spork. The two imprints were quite active throughout much of the '00s. Together their output numbered well over 100 releases, featuring minimal house and techno artists like Dan Curtin, Falko Brocksieper, Shonky and Margaret Dygas, along with the label founder himself (including a few collaborative records with Ricardo Villalobos). With Haze's relocation to Peru in 2010 (he's a US native from Philadelphia), both had been on hiatus for a few years. Haze is currently living in Berlin, and he's chosen to get both labels active again, but in a combined format, with the name Contexterrior Tuning Spork. Its first release is "Kammsa" / "Plex Astunde", a two-tracker from London-based producer Alex Celler marked with the catalog number CNTX/TS 1001 and due to drop at the beginning of September. Looking further ahead, Haze has releases from Signor Andreoni, Michal Ho and Kreon in the works, and the label boss himself will be putting out new tracks as well. In a recent interview with fabric, Haze also offered up some information on a new album he's been working on, Finding Oriya, though further details are still TBA. For now, you can give Celler's upcoming record a try with the samples below.
