  • Phuture, the creators of what is widely accepted as the first acid house record, will play live in LA at the King King nightclub on Saturday, July 26th. The group recently reunited after a nearly ten-year hiatus, and now features original members DJ Pierre and DJ Spank Spank along with new addition Rio “The Musician” Lee. The group unwittingly started a global movement by prominently featuring the otherwise unfashionable Roland TB-303 on their Acid Tracks EP in 1987. Pierre would leave the group in 1990, going on to work as an A&R for Strictly Rhythm. Spank Spank kept Phuture going with a rotating cast of members until 1996, but it wasn't until 2014 that the acid house trio would reunite as part of Boiler Room's Chicago House Legacy Session. DJ Pierre will also play the Los Angeles event, thrown by local house and techno promoters Basis. Stylus, Thee-o and Robtronik will round out the bill.
