  • HYTE Park Festival will return to Governor's Island in Upper New York Bay this month. The Pacha-sponsored outdoor event has expanded for 2014, running on July 12th and 13th. (Last year's inaugural edition went for one day.) The lineup has a strong techno presence, with Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Loco Dice and Tommy Four Seven all billed. Other highlights include Radio Slave, Hector, Bill Patrick, Taimur & Fahad and Paul Ritch, who is playing live. In recent times the HYTE brand has expanded to include a weekly residency at Barcelona’s L'Atlàntida club and two stages at Dutch festival Mysteryland. We caught up with festival organisers Michael Weicker and Rob Fernandez via email to find out a bit more about the festival:
What prompted the decision to expand the festival to two days? Above all it gives us more freedom to expand and to diversify the programming. Like this we can also spend more attention on the decoration and the installations, which would have had to be much more simple if we opened for just one day. What changes can festival-goers expect from last year's event? We have a very efficient production team in charge this year, which will create a completely different environment with cool stages and all kinds of decoration. Is there one artist you're particularly excited about seeing? We are equally excited about the choice of artists who will play on Saturday at Pacha as we are about the lineup for Sunday's afterhour at Output. The additional day really gives all of us the chance to enjoy those much-loved players with more time and we can't wait for a memorable weekend in NYC.
