  • A new shop called YAM Records is set to open in Peckham, South London. As FACT report, the new venture comes from DJ Theo Kozlowski and Tom Lawes. Lawes is part of the crew behind the Wholemeal parties, which have hosted the likes of Sven Weisemann, John Swing, October and John Heckle. YAM Records (short for "You And Music") will apparently stock "mostly secondhand (funk, soul, boogie, jazz and beyond) and new releases from small, independent labels." Lawes told FACT: "We'll also be stocking some choice cuts from the larger labels but want to focus on the little guys—a small shop for small labels." The grand opening is pencilled in for the August Bank Holiday weekend: August 23rd through 25th. The shop will be located at Units 12-14 in K&S Indoor Market on Rye Lane, not far from the recently opened Rye Wax. Another new London record shop called Love Vinyl also opened recently—that one's located near Hoxton.
