  • Adam X has a record on the way for Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. label. Though they're based in Europe these days, both Morelli and Adam X (real name Adam Mitchell) are New Yorkers through and through. Both artists have roots in the city's record store community: Adam X ran the revered Sonic Groove outlet with Frankie Bones in the '90s, while Morelli worked behind the counter at A1-Records. Adam X's records have long been a staple of Morelli's sets, so his appearance on the label comes as little surprise. The press release for Redacted Files describes Sonic Groove as a "hub for purchasing cutting edge electronic music from across the globe and was a meeting point for likeminded freaks throughout the city." It also refers to New York as "a shell of what it once was," where "people have come and gone with the corporate infrastructure having eaten its way through any and all subculture." Redacted Files sees Mitchell working as ADMX-71, a title reserved for his more experimental output. EP cut "Disentangle Me," which is streaming below, is a deep-burrowing EBM workout. (You can listen to clips of all three tracks over on the Rush Hour distribution page.) For more on Adam X, check out our Three Cuts video from last year.
