  • Rashad Harden, AKA DJ Rashad, has died aged 34. Harden was found unresponsive in a Chicago apartment on Saturday afternoon, and the Chicago Sun-Times reports that his body was surrounded by "drug paraphernalia" and that police suspect an overdose. An autopsy is scheduled for today. The Chicago producer was known as the most prominent ambassador of the footwork sound, and along with his production and DJing partner DJ Spinn, he was among the first people to tour the sound internationally. He was a founder of the Teklife crew and released one of our favourite albums of last year, Double Cup. Close associates and musical partners Spinn, J Cush and Chance The Rapper, among others, have taken to twitter to publicly mourn Harden and celebrate his considerable musical legacy. Harden was due to play a show in Toronto on Friday alongside Spinn and Lee Bannon, and Detroit on Saturday night.
