  • Miami's Vagabond has officially closed its doors. The club—co-owned by Carmel Orphir, Rodney Mayo and John Digweed—shuttered for good on Thursday, April 24th, according to Miami.com. The closing is comes from Orphir's own "family health issues" and not from money or land ownership problems. The venue has now been sold, and it will reportedly remain a nightclub, albeit one with a new name and new operators. "There’s been a need for more assistance for my parents, and I have chosen to be there, basically,” Orphir is quoted as saying. “I absolutely love everything that is and was The Vagabond, as a club and as an atmosphere. I adore the incredible staff and everyone that came with it, most importantly the audience and the patrons. But, you know, I love my family more. You gotta do the right thing.” For more info on the venue and its history, check out the Miami.com article. John Digweed's forthcoming three-CD set Live In Miami chronicles his last set at the venue, recorded this past March during WMC.
