- The Chicago footwork master has the first release on the new Texas label.
Wheez-ie has started up a new label called Southern Belle Recordings.
Matt Mauldin, who hails from Houston, was one of the first producers outside Chicago to pick up on the footwork sound in a big way, fashioning bass music hybrids for labels like Embassy and Well Rounded. Southern Belle is his own platform, and he's launching it in fine form with an EP from DJ Rashad. According to FACT, the four-track We On 1 includes collaborations with DJ Spinn, Gant-Man and DJ Manny.
The vinyl version will see release next week on April 28th, with a full digital release landing on May 13th. You can check out all four tracks below.
