- The footwork producer will release his second album for the UK label in May.
Traxman will drop his next Planet Mu LP on May 16th.
Self-styled "funky, soulful and a bit eccentric," Chicago's Cornelius Ferguson is one of the OGs of footwork (and juke for that matter), going all the way back to Dance Mania in the mid-'90s. He counts himself as a member of the Geto DJs and the old Ghettoteknitianz crew, whose members have gone on to form Teklife.
Da Mind Of Traxman Vol. 2 follows 2012's first volume of the same name, and more recently, last year's Teklife Vol. 3: The Architek. Where those two albums saw Ferguson slicing and chopping the usual slew of R&B and hip-hop samples for his beats, this one is reportedly more stripped down, each track made with just a sample or two "diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources." The press release goes on to compare the record's obsessive intricacy to microhouse, citing SND and Kraftwerk as other reference points.
