  • Low End Theory has launched a festival, with the first edition set to take place in LA on June 14th and 15th. The long-running party—famous for being a launchpad for Flying Lotus—has been the spiritual home to LA's bustling, hip-hop inspired beat scene since its inception in 2003. Known for an experimental and open-ended take on beat music, the crew's first festival shows off their roster and extended taste quite well. Legendary turntablist group Invisibl Skratch Piklz will headline along with Odd Future's The Internet. Nosaj Thing, Daedelus, Teebs, Ras G and Jonwayne are among the Low End staples also billed, plus Jimmy Tamborello as Dntel and the poppier stylings of Baths. Other highlights include Dibia$e, Mono/Poly, House Shoes, Knxlwedge, Leaving Records founder Matthewdavid, plus all the residents—The Gaslamp Killer, Daddy Kev, Nocando, D-Styles and Nobody. The whole thing will go down at LA's Echo (including the downstairs Echoplex room as well) from 4 PM until 2 AM each day. There will be workshops each afternoon as well—"Beatmaking 101" on Saturday, and "DIY Mastering with Daddy Kev" on Sunday.
