  • The SXSW car crash on Thursday, March 13th has now claimed its fourth victim. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of the 13th in front of the Mohawk concert venue, at 9th & Red River Street in downtown Austin. Police attempted to pull over a drunk driver who then sped off through a barricade into a group of pedestrians. Original reports had the death toll at two, with a third victim passing away the next week. Now, according to Pitchfork, the events have resulted in a fourth death, 18 year-old DeAndre Tatum. The previous victims are 35 year-old Dutchman Steven Craenmehr, the creative director for Massive Music agency, as well as Sandy Le and local Austin resident Jamie Ranae West. The driver of the vehicle, Rashad Owens (who hails from Killeen, Texas) has been charged with one count of capital murder. Tatum's girlfriend was hospitalized after the incident but has since been released. SXSW has set up a SXSW Cares fund to benefit victims of the tragedy. Photo courtesy of KXAN.
