  • Deru will release 1979 on June 17th. Benjamin Wynn is a Chicago-reared, LA-based producer and composer who has released a handful of albums for labels like Merck and Mush, as well as scoring TV shows and films (he won an Emmy in 2012). His latest project, the ambitious 1979, sees him signing to Los Angeles label Friends Of Friends for what's being described as an "ambient concept album." The record features nine songs recorded directly to tape, and each is accompanied by its own video directed by Anthony Ciannamea (along with a "third undisclosed element" that will be revealed later). For now, there's an interactive website set up for the LP, which features contributions from The Gaslamp Killer, Nigel Godrich, How To Dress Well and Amon Tobin among others.
