  • Flow Festival has announced the first names for its 2014 edition, which is set for this August 8th through 10th in Helsinki. Held yearly at Suvilahti, a former energy production complex that now serves as an arts and culture center, the festival is notable for merging big names (this year's headliner is the recently reunited Outkast) with music-nerd favorites (like Slowdive and Tinariwen), local favorites and a raft of electronic talent. (See Aaron Coultate's rave review of last year's festival to get a taste of what's on offer.) In terms of the latter, there's quite a lot of variety in this year's bookings. Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington's DARKSIDE project has signed on, along with James Holden, Bonobo, Jamie xx and Jon Hopkins. Mark Ernestus-produced group Jeri-Jeri will be in from Senegal, and festival favorite Paul Kalkbrenner is also booked in. More acts will be announced as the festival draws near.
