  • The Black Dog have revealed details of a new EP series called Sound Of Sheffield. The techno outfit are proud South Yorkshiremen, and the title of this series leaves no questions as to where their affiliations lie. Sheffield is a city with a strong music heritage—it nurtured bands like Cabaret Voltaire and Human League, and it was the original home of Warp Records. It's helped inspire The Black Dog's gritty and unpretentious style of techno for 25 years. According to a press release, the digital-only Sound Of Sheffield EPs use recordings made in and around the city "to echo Sheffield's heritage in creating electronic music," with a focus on creating dance floor-friendly grooves. Sound Of Sheffield Vol. 1 is due for release on The Black Dog's own Dust Science Recordings at the end of March, with three more EPs to follow. The visual accompaniment to Sound Of Sheffield comes from photographer Shaun Bloodworth, a well-known documenter of UK dance music. Tracklist 01. Ism 02. Dropforge Learning 03. Too Many Ism's Dust Science will release Sound Of Sheffield Vol. 1 on March 31st, 2014.
