  • Alex Banks will release his first album, Illuminate, through Modeselektor's Monkeytown on June 2nd. Though Banks has been poking around the Brighton music scene for a while, it's only recently that he's been releasing music. He made a name for himself as a producer with a few remixes as Banks in 2012 (Andreya Triana, Bonobo and others) and as a DJ with a much-loved Solid Steel mix and his supporting role on the road with Moderat. Now, after signing to Monkeytown, he's making his proper debut with an EP and full-length coming later this spring. A press release describes the album as a contemporary house record in the vein of Maceo Plex and poppier acts like London Grammar, albeit with some glitch-hop influences (one track is described as "Art Department's deep house at a dubstep convention"). Vocalist Elizabeth Berhnholz features on three tracks, including first single "All You Could Do," which will see its own release in May backed with a remix from Monkeytown labelmate Phon.o. You can stream the single below.
