- Warp Records will release their collaborative album this May.
Brian Eno and Karl Hyde have a collaborative album on the way called Someday World.
The record's nine songs come from some real electronic music legends: Eno spearheaded ambient music in the '70s (and has produced countless projects since), and Hyde is one of the principles in the seminal electronic group Underworld. Hyde, though, notes that the two found common ground in "a love of Afrobeat, Cyclical music based in live playing." Eno says that the tracks are rooted in "a big collection of 'beginnings'" that Hyde helped lend form. "When Brian played me these early tracks," Hyde says, "it was, 'Oh my god, this is home! Can I borrow a guitar?" As to the sound of the record, Eno hints that we should expect something abstract. We'll find out for sure when Warp Records issues Someday World in May on a double-gatefold LP, as a special-edition two-CD set (with extra tracks), as a regular CD and as a digital download.
