  • A collaborative full-length from Grenier and Archie Pelago is slated for release this May. The saxophone-cello-and-electronics trio first came to the LA-based Grenier's attention in 2011 by way of Distal, the Atlanta bass producer, who'd tapped them for a remix of his track "Amphibian." Their musical collaboration began almost immediately, and in 2012, Archie Pelago flew from their native Brooklyn to Grenier's former home base of San Francisco, where they set up shop in the basement of an art gallery for "one long hazy week" of writing and tracking. Grenier then took the "sketches and skeletons of Archie's work" and helped stitch it together into the final cuts that make up Grenier Meets Archie Pelago. The long-simmering end result, set for release through Melodic, is described in the press release as quintessentially West Coast, imbued with California's "warmth in its contrastive blend of glotta beats and soft-edged instrumental strains." Tracklist 01. Swoon 02. Navigator 03. Hyperion 04. Jellyfish Supernova 05. Phosphorent 06. Classon 07. Octavia 08. Tower Of Joined Hands 09. The Cartographer's Wife 10. Two If By Sea 11. Pliny The Elder 12. Tell Me Everything 13. Monolith Melodic will release Grenier Meets Archie Pelago on May 12th, 2013.
