  • Ivan Smagghe has revealed details of a new label called Les Disques De La Mort. The Frenchman-in-London already has one label to his name—Kill The DJ, which he started with Chloé in 2004—and this latest venture will be jointly run with Leon Oakey. The pair are promising a mix of "12-inches, mixed compilations, new kids on the rave, old acquaintances, rare breeds [and] obscurities brought back from the grave." The label's motto reads: "Music that we love, Music that we hate. As long as it does not fit. Ever. There is no point in defining what we do not want to kill. Death is silent, we are not. Do not expect anything from us, you would be disappointed." The first release is called Waldorf and comes from Margot, the Italian duo of Daniel Valanti and Stefano Serafini. They rose to prominence with an EP for Border Community in 2010, and released the Magico Disco 12-inch for Kill The DJ last year. The record, which is a vinyl-only affair, comes backed by a remix from Erol Alkan. Speaking to RA, Smagghe said the second Les Disques De La Mort release will come from a "young Lithuanian producer," while several reissues in the works span "Israeli coldwave, lost baggy pop and UK proto-house." The label's first launch party went down in Paris on February 13th. The London launch will go down at Plastic People tonight (February 20th), with Smagghe joined behind the decks by Lena Willikens, a regular selector at Düsseldorf's Salons Des Amateurs.
