  • Korg is rebooting ARP's classic Odyssey synth this September. Originally released in 1972, the Odyssey became a hit for ARP, who churned the synthesizer out with subtle tweaks until 1981. (The company is perhaps most famous for the 2600, the semi-modular monster that Todd Terje used as the basis for "Inspector Norse.") For this new Odyssey, Korg has brought David Friend, the lead design of the original, on board as chief advisor on the project. The press release describes it as "a faithful recreation"—likely something along the lines of the 2013 rerelease of their own classic synth, the MS-20. As of now, there's no estimated price for the unit. Korg will release the ARP Odyssey in September 2014.
