- The new label will have a stated focus on issuing "mind-stimulating music."
Butch and Sebastian Hohberg have started a new label called Otherside.
The label's first release is a three-track EP from Butch (real name Bülent Gürler) and Hohberg called Rebirth. "We have dedicated this label to release mind-stimulating music, which reveals itself in a different light each time you play it, depending on the soundsystem and your state of mind," Gürler told RA. The label's M.O. will be to release psychoacoustic music "which tickles your brain with its love of detail."
Gürler adds: "Our musical focus lies on the psycho-acoustics we use. I just love merging individual sounds into a new context, creating unity and maintaining individuality, as well as expanding and contracting the soundscape through various interacting microgrooves." Rebirth will land on vinyl on March 24th, with the digital version following four to six weeks later.
Butch and Hohberg also have an EP for Visionquest on the way: The Persistence of Memory EP will see release on March 17th.
