  • Kelela will play her first-ever headlining performances in New York City and Los Angeles on April 2nd and 3rd. LA's Kelela Mizanekristos made herself known with her guest appearances on Teengirl Fantasy's Tracer album and Kingdom's "Bank Head" before breaking out on her own with last year's lauded CUT 4 ME mixtape. That one saw her sing over specially tailored beats from the likes of Bok Bok, Jam City, Nguzunguzu and Girl Unit, a concept we said was "downright salivating" in our review at the time. Following last year's steady tour schedule, she's set to bust out on her own with her first headline performances in two of the US's biggest cities. On April 2nd, she'll perform at LA's The Echo, and the next night she'll land at Rough Trade NYC, with support info still forthcoming. She'll also have dates at SXSW this March, but the details for that have yet to be firmed up either. As part of the announcement, Mizanekristos has released a new song called "The High", this time produced by GB (Gifted & Blessed), which you can stream below.
