  • Red Bull Music Academy will premiere a new film in dozens of cities around the world on Monday, February 17th, with an event in Chicago due to take place at Lincoln Hall. The film is called What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music, and its free digital release on February 18th will help celebrate 15 years of RBMA, which will set up shop in Tokyo this year. Shot and produced by German director Ralf Schmerberg and his Mindpirates collective at the 2013 Academy in New York, it features a long list of music luminaries who have been involved with RBMA over the years, including Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Giorgio Moroder, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Richie Hawtin. For the premiere in Chicago, RBMA has recruited two DJs to bookend the film screening. It'll kick off at 7 PM with a set from locally based Argot label head Steve Mizek. The film will start at 8 PM, and afterwards, Ghostly International and Rephlex affiliate Todd Osborn will take to the decks. The event is free and open to the public, and potential applicants can learn more about RBMA and how to apply for this year's Tokyo program. You can watch the trailer for What Difference Does It Make? at the RBMA 15 homepage.
