  • Matthew Dear has planned the premiere of his new Audion live show. The show is called Subverticul, and according to a post on Dear's Facebook page, he's been working on it for almost a year. Fans will know that Dear has long had a flair for merging Audion's tense techno with cerebral visual art, and for this new show, he appears to be upping his game as he works on a new album under the alias (though details about the new one are still scarce). Subverticul was produced in collaboration with Heather Shaw and Alex Lazarus of Vita Motus Designs, the team behind Amon Tobin's much-praised ISAM concert, and Dear describes it like this: "It is equal parts kaleidoscopic light and LED show, as it is a moving visual sculpture." You can get a little more information about the project over at the Vita Motus homepage. The Subverticul live premiere will take place at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater on Saturday, February 22nd, with Culprit bosses Droog supporting. Dear will then bring the show to San Francisco on Wednesday the 26nd during the Noise Pop Festival. It seems likely that 2014 will be a pretty busy year for Audion, but at the moment, no other Subverticul performances have been announced.
