  • Moogfest has made another wave of lineup announcements for its 2014 instalment, taking place from April 23rd through 27th. Founded back in 2004 as a tribute to synth pioneer Bob Moog, this is Moogfest's first year since it moved from promoter AC Entertainment to Movement's Paxahau in 2012—as a result, there was no festival in 2013, and it's now switched months to April. After the initial lineup reveal—which featured Kraftwerk, Chic and Giorgio Moroder—the Asheville crew have released another batch of names that run the gamut from experimental electronic to synth pop, with an emphasis on playing live as usual. Among them are Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A., Brainfeeder boss Flying Lotus, Moderat, Machinedrum, Factory Floor, Black Dice and Holly Herndon. Tiga and Dirtybird's Eric Volta make up some of the DJing talent. As usual, the festival will have a full host of daytime conferences, events, screenings and exhibitions as well, to which Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and Dan Deacon have been added to as well.
