Max Loderbauer, Claudio Puntin and Samuel Rohrer have a new collaborative album on the way next month called Ambiq.
The electronic musician has long worked collaboratively, lending his synth expertise to projects like Sun Electric and the Moritz Von Oswald Trio. In fact, despite decades spent making music, the Berliner only put out his first solo album, the excellent Transparenz, last year. In terms of personnel this time, Ambiq brings Loderbauer and his Buchla 200e synth together with some highly regarded collaborators. Puntin is considered one of the best clarinetists in contemporary jazz, and Rohrer's resume as a percussionist has him playing live and recording with an enviable assortment of adventurous musicians. While certainly not an obvious dance floor record, Ambiq finds the trio making highly rhythmic music, filled with textures both organic and alien. Arjuna is picking up the release.
