  • PAN has revealed its schedule for the early months of 2014. The Berlin-based experimental label is rolling right into 2014 after a prolific period in the second half of 2013, which included music from NHK'Koyxe?, Rene Hell, Jar Moff and Heatsick. To follow this month's The Hollow Organ by Helm, Bill Kouligas has kept up the pace and announced a string of further releases on his imprint. First up, on February 17th, is the PAN debut from Bass Clef, an experimentally-inclined producer who has done everything from dubstep for Punch Drunk to modular experiments under the name Some Truths. His will be a four-tracker called Raven Yr Own Worl, and going from teaser track "Self-Perpetuating", it could be one of his more floor-oriented affairs. A week later, the label will drop a double album from Valerio Tricoli called Miseri Lares (artwork to the right), which follows the Italian sound artist's split LPs on PAN with Bill Kouligas and Thomas Ankersmit. (It's also his first solo album in six years.) Based in part on a sound installation from 2011, the press release calls the record of digitally-manipulated tape recordings his "magnum opus," with specific emphasis on "themes of the internal." It also features a healthy dose of spoken word, including writings from Dante, excerpts from Ecclesiastes and text from Tricoli himself. You can stream the immersive album track "Le Qoheleth ?" here. March will see former Keysound associate Beneath make his first appearance on the label with a self-titled four-tracker, signalling a move away from UK-influenced dance music into more abstract, but still quite percussive territory. (Take a listen to "Ocupy" to see for yourself.) In April, Hamburg breakout star Helena Hauff will team up with F#X for their second single of hard-edged live jamming. Check out the 11-minute A-side "Unit 2669" here. Finally, though the release date is still uncertain, there will be a 12-inch from Berlin producer M.E.S.H., who has dropped one EP so far as well as remixing the likes of Dan Bodan and Fatima Al Qadiri. Get a taste of that one with the trippy "Siren Server" over here. This week's CTM Festival in Berlin also comes with a heavy focus on PAN, including appearances from Beneath, Concrete Fence, M.E.S.H., Rashad Becker and others through the next few days. Individual info for each night is available on the event pages below, or in full at the CTM website. They'll be a part of a special Boiler Room at the V&A Museum in London this Friday night, as well. PAN will also hold an audiovisual show in London at the Southbank Centre on February 7th in partnership with Harmonic series. That one will feature Lee Gamble, Florian Hecker, Rene Hell, Jar Moff and Mat Dryhurst, plus a host of visual artists.
