  • The 50th Southport Weekender will run from May 9th through 11th, 2014. The event has been running for 28 years, making it the world's oldest indoor dance music festival (for most of that time it's been biannual). This year the weekender will return to Butlin's resort in Minehead for its 50th event, with the music spread across four arenas and a 1,000-capacity inflatable dome. Carl Cox will play two sets at the festival: one of classic house, the other jazz-funk. The rest of the bill spans the usual Southport Weekender vibe of house, disco, soul and funk. Highlights include Seth Troxler, Moodymann, Ben UFO, DJ EZ, Derrick Carter, Kerri Chandler, MK, Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dope, Floating Points, The Martinez Brothers, Motor City Drum Ensemble and this week's RA Exchange subject David Rodigan. The festival, which has already sold out, will also host three on-site afterparties featuring the likes of Vakula, Jimpster and Miguel Migs.
