  • Machinedrum and Jimmy Edgar have revealed details of their second JETS release: a cover of Midnight Star's 1986 disco-funk classic "Midas Touch." The track, which features Warp crooner Jamie Lidell on vocals, first surfaced late last year, with Machinedrum using it to open his BBC Essential Mix in November. "This was a fun project headed by Ned at Leisure System, which ended up taking over a year to manifest," Edgar told RA. "Travis [Machinedrum] and I worked on about three different versions in several studios in NYC, Berlin and Australia. Originally I got a karoake version and brought Jamie into the NI studios in Berlin to record the vocals—that man is a machine. He worked through no air conditioning and sweated those vocals out like a champ." The cover (along with an alternate version by Machinedrum) will come out this month on Leisure System, the Berlin label and club night, which put out the only other JETS record to date back in October 2012. Last year the duo toured heavily as JETS and launched their own label, Ultramajic, while Machinedrum also released his second album, Vapor City. Tracklist 01. Midas Touch 02. Midas Touch (Machinedrum Version) Leisure System will release Midas Touch on January 27th, 2014.
