  • Smart Bar in Chicago has announced a new residency called We Still Believe, which starts this Saturday night. We Still Believe was conceived by The Black Madonna (Smart Bar's talent buyer) and Olin, who DJ together as Trustus. As explained in a press sheet, the duo threw parties around the city under the Trustus banner, rejecting "the more glamorized, more fashion oriented side of techno and house" and focusing on "a return to the core values of inclusion and pure dance euphoria." Those values, as described in a manifesto (which you can read at the event pages below) will be a key part of We Still Believe, which looks to happen on a quarterly basis in 2014. The club has revealed that Trustus, along with another duo, Studio Casual, who run the local label Stripped & Chewed, will be the resident DJs. Headlining the first event this Saturday is Gunnar Haslam, a New York producer with releases on L.I.E.S. and Argot under his belt in 2013, who'll be making his local debut. Studio Casual completes the program at this one. (Get ready for the weekend with Haslam's new podcast for Little White Earbuds.) Then on Saturday, January 25th, We Still Believe will welcome to town Novel Sound man Levon Vincent—it'll be his first time playing Chicago as well—with Trustus taking to the decks in support. Tickets to the first two editions of We Still Believe are available on RA.
