  • The Modern Deep Left Quartet has a new EP called Ditch Pig due out next month. The group is made up of Canadian producers Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate, Tyger Dhula and Colin de la Plante (AKA The Mole). You might also be familiar with them by way of another name, Cobblestone Jazz, which has been the more prolific of the two projects over the years. (In fact, back in 2010 they teamed up as Cobblestone Jazz for an LP called The Modern Deep Left Quartet.) As it turns out, a press sheet for this new record says that "due to contractual obligations they had been releasing as Cobblestone Jazz the past few years," and "it's high time that the projects are re-branded as originally intended." Fans of the foursome should have a good idea of what to expect from Ditch Pig: vibrant, free-form house and techno, with the more than eight minute-long title track backed by two shorter B-side cuts. It'll come out on Wagon Repair Ltd. Tracklist A1 Ditch Pig B1 Harry the Käse Man B2 Silent Samba Wagon Repair Ltd. will release Ditch Pig on December 9th, 2013.
