- The LA label will release its first official compilation later this month.
Body High will drop Work Volume 1 on November 19th.
The label was founded two years ago by LA residents Jerome LOL (of LOL Boys fame) and Samo Sound Boy, and has since become a rather unpredictable outlet encompassing all sorts of dance music from the likes of US garage pioneer Todd Edwards, Jersey club kingpin DJ Sliink, Jim-E Stack and the mysterious DJ Funeral, among plenty of others. Work isn't the first time Body High has dabbled in various artists releases—just last month they released a special tour package with tracks from Juan Atkins and others—but it'll be the first official, for-sale compilation of their lifespan so far.
The album collects both previously-released 2013 material and a smattering of new tracks from the Body High family ("representative of what you would hear at a Body High warehouse party in LA in 2013," Samo tells us). That includes exclusives from Jerome himself, San Francisco's Cedaa, experimental techno producer Campbell and the now broken up Grown Folk. There are also two new signees, Matpat and Pipes, according to FACT.
Listen to a selection from Work Volume 1, Samo Sound Boy's collaboration with Floyd Campbell, "Give Up," here, and Samo Sound Boy's acid-tinged ballad "Your Love" here.
