  • Polish festival Unsound will return to Adelaide in 2014, following this year's inaugural instalment. This three day event will run in parallel with the annual Adelaide festival, kicking off on March 6th and running through until the 8th. As with the first edition in 2013, Unsound Adelaide will take place at Queen's Theatre and Adelaide Town Hall. Next year's program begins with a live performance of the score from Justin Kurzel's acclaimed 2009 film Snowtown, which was based on real-life killings in South Australia (the score was written by Justin's brother, Jed). Taking place at the Adelaide Town Hall, the event will also feature a debut Australian performance of drone outfit Stars Of The Lid, with video artist Luke Savisky and the Zephyr Quartet also involved. The 7th sees electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick headline a showcase at Queen's Theatre. He'll be supported by Steven Stapleton’s long-running experimental project Nurse With Wound, as well as Haxan Cloak (who mixed an RA Podcast back in April) and Cut Hands, the African-inspired project of William Bennett. On the 8th, the Moritz Von Oswald Trio will team up with percussion king Tony Allen for a live show, with support coming from abstract techno duo Emptyset, US experimentalist James Ferraro and RVNG-signed duo Gardland. The full Adelaide Festival will run from February 28th through March 16th, 2014. For more details head over to the event's official website.
