- Toronto's newest techno night will return later this month.
- Rrose will play at the next Format night in Toronto on September 28th. Format launched back in August as a new outlet for techno in a scene that its organizers felt was lacking. Rrose will headline the second edition, which will move to Neutral club this time around, presented in partnership with fellow Toronto promoter Lost Kitten. Rrose first emerged in 2011 with a few EPs on Sandwell District, which were followed by a handful of releases on his own Eaux label. His early work showed off a hypnotic take on techno, with RA's Philip Sherburne comparing Merchant Of Salt to "psychedelic trance circa 1994." Since then, Rrose has broken through as an international touring artist playing live and DJing, and he also mixed an RA Podcast just over a year ago. He'll be supported by local techno head and Sonic Groove associate Orphx, plus Frederik Hatsav, Format's own Measure Divide, Box Of Kittens resident Mike Gibbs and Frakture Audio's Replikant.
