- The Adidas offshoot will release the contemporary house-stuffed two-disc set next month.
The Y-3 fashion line will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a self-released compilation next month.
Y-3 is the brainchild of Yohji Yamamoto, a Japanese fashion designer who released his first clothing line in Paris in 1981. Y-3 is the sportier line he developed in conjunction with Adidas in 2003. For the compilation, they've brought together a rather enviable coterie of electronic producers, with an emphasis firmly placed on contemporary house. Frank Wiedemann of Âme, Mano Le Tough, Larry Heard and Joe Claussell are among those featured. And New Yorker Alex From Tokyo actually appears twice: once as a member of Tokyo Black Star, and again as the DJ behind the mixed version of the compilation. It'll be available on CD, as a digital download and as a limited edition vinyl boxset through Y-3's website, retail stores and social media outlets.
