- The UK veteran's next album is billed as a marriage between techno and samba rhythms.
Kirk Degiorgio will release an album of samba-infused techno in September.
The UK producer describes SambaTek as "a collision of traditional Brazilian percussion tracks and state-of-the-art techno." It's due for release through Far Out Recordings, which released Degiorgio's Two Worlds album—a collaboration with Brazilian funk legends Azymuth—back in 2001. "SambaTek was a wonderful opportunity for me to work with Far Out Recordings and explore the label's deep Brazilian connections," he explains. "I've always loved Brazilian rhythms, from heavy batucada breakdowns to gentle melancholy sambas."
In addition to eight original tracks, SambaTek comes with four remixes from Rick Wilhite, Jonas Kopp, NX1 and Spatial (these remixes will also appear on two separate 12-inches, the first of which was reviewed by RA's Brian Kolada back in June). Degiorgio will be taking the SambaTek show on the road, with a series of performances featuring live percussion in the works.
