  • A two-room party called Cray Cray will take place at The Works in Detroit on Friday, August 30th. Headlining honors will go to two of today's more well-known Midwestern techno acts, each with their own widely praised take on the genre. Hard-charging Minneapolis stalwart DVS1 will DJ in the back room, while the front will feature the dubby sounds of Echospace, represented here by Chicago-based Stephen Hitchell, who's lined up for a three-hour live PA. Locally based FXHE and Echocord associate Luke Hess will also be on hand to play a set with Chicago's Klectik label head Jason Patrick. Two more Detroit DJs, Joey Krueger and Andy Ritchie, complete the lineup. Entry is open to those 18 and over, and a "free party bag" with CDs, stickers and more will be given to the night's first 100 arrivals. Both of the headliners also have other US gigs confirmed in the coming weeks. DVS1 has a hometown show called Communion lined up this Sunday, as well as appearances at Output in New York (with Stacey Pullen) and Wiggle Factor in Atlanta—tickets to the latter two events are available on RA. Meanwhile, Echospace will play a party at Primary in Chicago next Saturday.
