The Orb is set to release a 25th anniversary box set on Island Records called History Of The Future.
Formed in the late '80s as electronic music was coming into its own in the UK, The Orb has been masterminded by Alex Paterson and a handful of collaborators over the years, including Thomas Fehlmann. Since their epically titled first EP, A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld, they've brought their spacey, chilled-out sound onto ever-larger stages. They've also released prolifically, assembling a catalog of over 20 albums and dozens of singles. So even at four discs, History Of The Future is just scratching the surface of The Orb. Three of the discs are CDs, featuring singles, remixes & rarities and live performances from the mid-'90s, respectively. The fourth disc, a DVD, compiles music videos and TV appearances.
