A new album from Marcel Dettmann, Dettmann II, will see release on Ostgut Ton next month.
It's been three years since Dettmann's debut LP, and during that time the Berghain resident's stature as a DJ and producer has only continued to rise. Though he's now a regular in Ibiza and on festival stages, Dettmann is still uncompromising, making techno as brutal as it is danceable. You can hear plenty of that on II, which mixes ambient soundscapes and minimalist experimental cuts with the sort of hard-hitting techno he's known for. Emika lends her voice to the track "Seduction," and a pair of fellow techno hotshots—Levon Vincent and Rene Pawlowitz—have co-produced the tracks "Outback" and "Aim," respectively.
